“Postman delivering mail, rural mail route, York county, Maine” By George W. Ackerman, August 26, 1930 (33-SC-14560c)
During a nearly 40-year career with the Department of Agriculture, George W. Ackerman (1884-1962) estimated that he took over 50,000 photographs. Ackerman began working as a photographer for the Bureau of Plant Industry in 1910 at a salary of $900 a year.
