Meter reading was very stylish in 1918.
“Minneapolis General Electric Co. Meter Readers” is dated August 31, 1918 and comes from the Records of the Women’s Bureau, Department of Labor.
“Home of George Hoskins, his wife and ten children. This is a three room house renting for $6.75 monthly; the family has an electric refrigerator, washing machine, an iron, and pay $4.12 monthly for electricity; Mr. Hoskins said, ‘We’ve lived in this house for eleven years, and it has leaked for eleven years.’ Coleman Fuel Company, Red Bird Mine, Field, Bell County, Kentucky, 08/31/1946”
